UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA ALUMNI ASSOCIATION TO OPEN ALUMNI MARKET POP-UP STORE NEAR FAN FESTIVITIES FOR THE BIG GAME
MINNEAPOLIS / ST. PAUL (January 23, 2018) – The University of Minnesota Alumni Association (UMAA) today announced it will open a pop-up store at 917 Nicollet Mall (right next to The Local and Barrio) for its Minnesota Alumni Market. The store will run concurrently with other football fan events planned in conjunction with the Big Game. Launched in partnership with alumni-owned businesses Woodchuck USA and Hippy Feet, the pop-up store (called Hippy Feet Warming House at The Local) will run from January 26 - February 4 and be open most days from 11am - 10pm.
“The University of Minnesota Alumni Association strives to support alumni businesses,” said Lisa Lewis, Alumni Association President and CEO. “Opening a pop-up store for the Alumni Market, during a time when the world’s eyes will be on Minnesota, is a perfect opportunity to celebrate and share the work of the U’s talented alumni makers.”
About the Minnesota Alumni Market
Launched in November 2017 by the University of Minnesota Alumni Association, the Minnesota Alumni Market is believed to be the first alumni-maker online store to sell only products created by alumni-owned businesses. The market can be accessed at MNAlumniMarket.com and features everything from home goods to books, apparel and even unique product lines. It brings alumni-created products together within one shopping environment so that it's easy for alumni and friends to identify and purchase them, while helping fellow alumni connect and support each other and the Alumni Association in a non-traditional way. The Market was created in partnership with Jessen Media, a product development and marketing company owned by U of M alumnus Mark Jessen, who graduated from the U in 1985 with a B.A. degree in Political Science.
