Thomas Rose is a visual artist whose multimedia works have been included in exhibitions in China, Korea, France, Italy, Sweden, Iran, and Poland as well as the United States, including The Hirshhorn Museum and the Whitney Museum, The Walker Art Center, The Minneapolis Institute of Arts, the Frederick R. Weisman Museum. In 2000 Rose was named Fesler-Lampert Chair Humanities at the University of Minnesota for his collaborative work across disciplines.
Printed on Moab Kozo paper, Rose's photographs of botanicals almost look like ink drawings. Further illuminating the mysterious beauty of the plant and its shadows is the spontaneous gesture of a drawing pencil dipped in Sumi ink and incorporated into the compositions.
