Great River Greening

Great River Greening inspires, engages and leads local communities in conserving and caring for the land and water that enrich our lives.
Improve the natural habitat for pollinators! Volunteers will release milkweed seeds through a “podcast” and plant pollinator friendly plugs including common, butterfly, and whorled milkweed at the Sunrise Unit.
Available at the Carlos Avery WMA.
Upon arrival, look for Great River Greening signs and check in at registration.
What to Wear
Volunteers are encouraged to dress for the weather including closed toe shoes. Please use sunscreen and insect repellent as needed.
Volunteers of all ages are welcome to participate. Children must be supervised.
Light breakfast, snack and lunch will be provided. This event is occurring during waterfowl hunting season, although far from the popular game area. Orange safety vests will be provide to volunteers.
Can't make it to the project site?
The College of Design is also hosting a blanket drive for Bridging from September 24 - October 7. You can participate by donating new and gently-used blankets of all sizes at UMN College of Design. (M-F 7:00am - 7:00pm, Sat. 7:00am - 4:30pm and Sun. 1:00pm - 5:00pm)
