Architecture Lecture Series | Decentered Center
Featuring Amale Andraos
Architect and dean, Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation (New York)
October 29, 2018
100 Rapson Hall
This year, the School of Architecture's Fall lecture series aims to conceptualize architectural responses to underlying social and historical contradictions of our time; contradictions often driven by technocratic ideologies, data collection practices, and populist politics of exclusion. Speakers are asked to respond to the prompt of the “decentered center” and to engage participants on the agency of architecture to affect the persistent, and often invisible, systems that shape our lives.
The 2018 series includes four invited speakers giving public lectures, and four salon sessions led by the School of Architecture’s faculty.
Presented by the University of Minnesota School of Architecture with support from the Cass Gilbert Fund.
